Compressed File Format Handling
There is a good chance that the file format that you downloaded will have a handler available to deal with it. If nothing reasonable happens when you double click on the downloaded file:
- EXE Format: This should work on all Windows PCs! Guarranteed not to work on other operating systems, unless they have PC emulation software running.
- SIT Format: The StuffIt website should have a trail download program to help with the StuffIt file format, no matter what operating system you are using.
- ZIP Format: WinZip has a shareware program to handle ZIP files on Windows PCs. InfoZip has a shareware program to handle ZIP files on other operating systems.
Also, MacWindows.com has heaps of information about cross platform compression programs.
